Violet Ruth (Tanner) Colclasure, age 71 years, a resident of South Elgin, IL for the past 35 years and a native of Johnson County IL, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003, at the Provena Pine View Care Center in St. Charles, IL.
Violet was born September 29, 1932 in Johnson County IL. She was the daughter of Theodore & Dorsie Tanner.
Violet was united in marriage to Calvin Colclasure for over 38 years.
In addition to her Husband, Violet is survived by: a Daughter - Ruth Ann Lake of Carlsbad, CA; a Son - James Colclasure of South Elgin, IL; a Sister - Sharon Lowery, and her husband Carroll, of Elgin, IL; 2 Step Daughters - Jacquline of Ocean View, CA and Bridgette minogue, and her husband Bill, of North Carolina; 2 Step Sons - Steve Colclasure of Colorado Springs, CO and Matt Colclasure, and his wife Karen, of Columbia, South Carolina; 4 Grandchildren and 13 Step Grandchildren.
Violet was an administrative assistant, Dept. of Health in West Chicago, IL, prior to her retirement. More recently, she had been employed as a music instructor at Lowery Music Studio in West Dundee. For a number of years, Violet was employed by the Illinois State Library in Springfield, IL and later as Administrator for the Illinois State Library in DeKalb, IL.
Violet attended Southern Illinois University, Elgin Community College & Northern Illinois University. She received training as a teletype operator for Western Union in Crawfordsville, IN.
Violet was a member of the South Elgin Community United Methodist Church. She was also a member & Past Worthy Matron of Fox Valley Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Violet was also a member of the American College of Musicians.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, November 29, 2003, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Robinson-Wise Cemetery, north of Ozark.
Friends may call from 6 PM - 9 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
