Funeral for Richard Alan (Rick) Hunter, 41, of Rusk was at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hank Chandler officiating. Masonic graveside rites were at the Atoy Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.

Mr. Hunter died March 1 in a Miami Fla. hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1956, in San Antonio and had resided in Rusk for seven years. He was a member of the Harlandale Church of Christ in San Antonio. Mr. Hunter had been employed by J. Ray McDermott Inc. as a paramedic for seven years. He was a member of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 16 in Anderson, previously worked for Rusk State Hospital, Texas Department of Corrections and was a dairy farmer for 15 years.

Survivors are his wife, Karen LaRae Ford Hunter of Rusk; his parents, Wallace and Evelyn Hunter of Rusk; a step-son, Lyle Goodwin of Tyler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Norma Ford of Rusk; a brother and sistr-in-law, Randall and Susan Hunter of Rusk; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and Jim Hoffman of Victoria; his grandparents, Howard and Elizabeth Gardner of Rusk; five nieces; two great-nieces and two great-nephews and sevral cousins.

Members of Rusk Euclid Masonic Lodge No. 45 served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Brad Hart, Troy Walker, Elbert Ballew, Talmadge Rogers, Jimmy Walley, Jim Hoffman, Joel Ford and Tony Cussano.

The family requests donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
