During World War I her oldest surviving son Gordon was working in a shipyard building three masted wooden fishing schooners when officials came seeking eligible young men to be sent into WWI. She gave his birthdate as 1900 and hid the Bible which was the only record of his birth. The Bible was discovered more than a half century later indicating he was born in 1899. Her quick witted boldness is very likely why this contributor is posting this record today. Buried in the cemetery in front of her home at New Cumberland Nova Scotia Canada, (18 miles from Bridgewater).
