Obituary in THE STATE, Columbia, SC, 18 May 1965: Norway - Vernie Walling, 52, died Monday. He was born in Orangeburg County, and had lived in the Norway community all his life. Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Ola Hoover Walling, at home; three daughter, Mrs. Ann Adams, Neeses; Mrs. Betty Stoudemire, West Columbia; and Miss Vernelle Walling of Norway; two sons, Steve Walling and A W Walling, both of Norway; and a brother Bennie Walling, Norway. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, from the Two Mile Baptist Church Norway. The body will be at the Culler Funeral Home.
