BRIDGEWATER - Vera Good Bowman, 86, formerly of the Sunnyside area of Rockingham County, died Saturday afternoon (Sept. 11, 1999) at Bridgewater Retirement Community, where she was a resident.

She was born May 25, 1913, near McGaheysville, a daughter of Ernest and Vada Rodeffer Good.

She was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren.

She married, Carl Showalter Bowman on April 14. 1935; he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn C. Bowman of Fairfax and David L. Bowman of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Darlene B. Simmons of Mount Sidney; sister, Sylvia Myers of Fort Defiance; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mill Creek Church Of the Brethren, near Port Republic, by the Rev. Jimmy R. Ross. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at Kyger-Pence Funeral Home, near McGaheysville: The casket will be closed.

Memorials may be made to the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, 7600 Port Republic Road Port Republic, VA 24471.
