SHORT ILLNESS IS TERMINATED
A one week illness of pneumonia terminated this morning shortly after seven o'clock in the death of Joseph Zybarth of Nichols Iowa. The deceased was born in Germany, March 25, 1857 and when sixteen years of age came to this community, where he has since made his home. He was united in marriage with Miss Josephine Harper, twenty-six years ago and to this union six children were born, who with the wife survive to mourn his loss.
The children are Mrs. Stella Van Zandt. and Mrs. Julia Heezen, residing near here, and James, Frank, Leonard and Edward Zybarth, all at home. One brother, Hugh Zybarth, and two sisters. Mrs. John Metz, of Creston, and one sister living in Germany also survive to mourn his loss. No funeral plans have been completed pending word from distant relatives.
Note: I really do not know for sure which is correct for his year of birth, the year listed on his stone or the year listed in the newspaper. I think 1856 is correct as he was listed in the cemetery records as being 62 years old when he died.
Julia Heezen should be spelled Hazen, although some of the family of Hazen were spelled Heezen in earlier times.
