Funeral services for J.W. (Bill) Turnage, Sr., 79, who died June 5th at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, Hayti, were held June 7th at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Hayti with the Rev. R.L. Robinson of Hayti officiated. Burial was in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.
Mr. Turnage was born November 16th, 1894 in Elbridge, Tenn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Turnage was married to Paulin Duke in Elbridge May 18th, 1913.
Survivors include his wife of Hayti; three sons, Lewis Turnage and J.W. Turnage Jr., both of Hayti and Duke Turnage of Owensboro, Ky.; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Webb of Cahokia, Ill. and Mrs. Mary Dean Bradsher of Hayti; two brothers, Lilard Turnage and Carmack (Red) Turnage both of Caruthersville; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Matt Byd of Union City, Tenn., and Mrs. Fannie Bell Mitchell of Obion, Tenn.; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and honorary pallbearers were Odd Fellows.
