Mrs. Anhorn, 87, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton.

She was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Heppner, to William "Jeff" Beamer and Clara Reid Gertson. She graduated from Heppner High School in 1936, then attended Pacific University. She earned a home economics education degree from Oregon State University. On July 27, 1941, she married Carl "Willie" Anhorn in Heppner. They lived in Central Point where Mrs. Anhorn taught at Central Point High School.

Mrs. Anhorn was a 4-H leader in Jackson County, active with 4-H at the Morrow County Fair and an honorary FFA member of the Scenic and Crater school FFA chapters. She was a volunteer at the Heppner Library, the Senior Center and the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home. She was a member and volunteer for the Heppner First Christian Church. The city of Heppner recognized her commitment to volunteering by selecting her Woman of the Year.

Mrs. Anhorn enjoyed genealogy, her cats, miniature horses, miniature goats, sewing, crafting and collecting anything associated with owls.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son James B. Anhorn; and brother James Beamer.

She is survived by daughter Catherine Christensen of Pilot Rock; sons William G. Anhorn of La Grande, Jeffrey C. Anhorn of San Jose, Calif., and Michael J. Anhorn of Medford; sister Mary Beamer Goheen of Heppner; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
