|Birth: ||Feb. 16, 1677|
He was the son of John Gillett and Mary Barber. He married Rebecca Bancroft on 22 January 1702 in Suffield, Connecticut. They had 7 children.
According to both "Connecticut Births and Christenings, 1649-1906" (link: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F74M-FYG) & "The History and Genealogies of Ancient Windsor, Connecticut" by Henry Reed Stiles, 1891, page 290, he was born in the year 1677.
"The Gillette families (Gillet-Gillett-Gillette) : Including Some of the Descendants of the Immigrants Jonathan Gillet" has Samuel's place of death as Granville, Hampden County, Massachusetts on page 19. And on page 23 it cites his death in Granville, Massachusetts again, but with his burial in Suffield, Connecticut. Further confusion comes from the source: "History of Connecticut Valley in Massachusetts," on page 1086, which states that he was the first person buried in the East Granville Cemetery,. This cemetery is probably what was later called Center Cemetery & still later Main Road Cemetery. This page 1096 also states that Samuel was the first person to die in what is now Granville, Massachusetts. Since both of these sources state he died in Granville, Massachusetts, it would seem more logical that would also be where he was buried. Therefore, he is listed here in the Main Road Cemetery.
