Mrs. Montgomery retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems, where she was a Biologist. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Women’s Investment Club, the Oak Ridge Country Club and the Literacy Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Saylors and Betty Saylors.
She is survived by Her husband of 41 years, Billy Hart Montgomery,
Son, Fred Gilbert Montgomery and wife Rose Godwin Montgomery of Knoxville, Brothers, John Saylors and wife Linda of Crossville and
William Saylors and wife Gerry of Birmingham, AL, Grandsons, Matthews Montgomery and Graham Montgomery of Knoxville and
a multitude of friends who supported her through her illness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 4:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. A private graveside will be held on Tuesday at 1:30pm at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary.
