T. A. Silman, 83 years, 9 months, and 3 days, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bettie Edwards, Route 1, Atlanta, Tuesday morning, October 6, 1936 at 8:30. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 at the Sardis Church with the Rev. Keyes officiating. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery.
Mr. Silman was born at Dubach, La. and has lived in Louisiana all his life. He has been a resident of the Atlanta community for the past 49 years where he engaged in farming. He had been ill for about 15 days.
It is believed that Mr. Silman, before his death, and his sister, now Mrs. Sara Howard of Dubach, were the oldest living twins in the United States.
Surviving are four sons and one daughter, J. T. Silman, Plaquemine, La.; Ben Silman, Del Rio, Texas; Willie [sic Willis] Silman, Winnsboro, La.; Joe Silman, Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Bettie Edwards, Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs. Sara Howard, 83 years, his twin, Dubach, La.; Mrs. Mollie Barton, 82 years, Jonesville, La.; Mrs. Parthenia Howard, 80 years, Jonesboro; and Mrs. Bettie King, 72 years, Dubach, La.
