Death of Charles Hardy

Charles Hardy, a native Brookhaven man, and one of it's best known residents, died at the Hardy home on South Jackson Street between six and seven o'clock last night after a protracted illness. Mr. Hardy was fifty eight years old and had served as a deputy city and county office a number of times and had worked in two local business concerns. He was a son the late Capt. Jack Hardy and Mrs. Ellen Hooker Hardy, members of old and distinguished Mississippi families.

Mr. hardy's wife, the former Miss Nora Baggett, a lovely California young woman, but a descendant of a Mississippi family, died a number of years ago, and his elder son, Charles, Jr., was accidentally killed at his place of employment in California within the past half year. Of the immediate family, the younger son, John Carson Hardy of this city, is the only survivor.

Mr. Charles Hardy was tenderly cared for during his long illness by devoted relatives several of whom share the Hardy home. A brother, Mr. J. Brooks Hardy, and three sisters, Misses and Annie Hardy and Mrs. J. A. Thompson survive.

The funeral is announced for three o'clock this afternoon, Rev. H. V. Lofquist to officiate, at the residence. Interment will be made in the Hardy lot at Rosehill.
