He retired from LTV Steel in Aliquippa and then worked for Reed Oil.He was affiliated with Wampum Presbyterian Church. He graduated from the former Wampum High School, where he played basketball. He was a charter member of the New Beaver Borough Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former member of the Wampum VFW post and formerly coached baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Alice Cory Lutz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra A. and Arnold Irwin of Plain Grove, and Cheryl L. and Michael Giardina of New Beaver; a son, Robert E. Lutz Jr., at home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James E. and Dorothy Lutz of Tidioute, Pa., and William D. Lutz of Union Township; and two grandchildren, Autumn and Travis Giardina. He was preceded in death by sister, Kathryn Ippolito, and his twin brother, Richard T. Lutz.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum.A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funneral home. The Rev. Dr. William R. McGary will officiate.
