Creamer Sherrid Barker, 59, of 808 Western Rd., city, died at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, yesterday at 12:30 p.m. after two months illness.
Born in Augusta County on May 22, 1895, he was the son of the late John and Lucy Hopkins Barker.
Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, Mrs. Odessa Henderson Barker; one son, William Sherrid Barker, at home; one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Greta Frazier, city; two sisters, Mrs. Yhorlia Childress, Afton; and Mrs. Eva Roper, Staunton; four brothers, John Barker, Huntington, W. Va.; Hansford Barker, Frillsburg, W. Va.; Brainard Barker, Waynesboro; and Charles W. Barker, Afton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 7 p.m. today when it will be taken to the Barker residence and will be returned to the Etter Funeral Home at noon tomorrow. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, conducted by Silas W. Brydge, assisted by Franklin Weaver. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Albert Lam, Charles Mahler, Austin Via, Paul Brydge, Olin Cook and June McLaughlin.
Honorary bearers will be G. C. Hall, Dr. S. G. Saunders, Woody Coffey, Paul Smith, Gideon Faust, Hugh Carter and Stanley Brooks.
