Hannah was the daughter of John Moore. She was born in England and came to Dorchester, Massachusetts with her father, two sisters and grandfather about 1630. This would indicate that her mother had died in England sometime prior to 1630. The family came to Windsor, Connecticut, with the first settlers. There is a partial record in Windsor of her father's marriage to an Abigail in 1639, but daughters Hannah and Elizabeth are too old to have been born from this marriage.

Hannah married John Drake in Windsor on November 30, 1648. John was the son of John & Lettice Shakespear Drake, born in Warwickshire, England. John & Hannah had 11 children. In January of 1670, Hannah, along with the wives of Nathaniel Loomis and Lieutenant Filer, had crossed the Connecticut River on a neighborly errand. On their way back across the river, their canoe was hit by an ice floe, and all three were cast into the freezing river. All three were miraculously rescued by Nathaniel Bissell and an Indian, who were in another canoe on the river. The story of the rescue was written by Increase Mather, and titled "Remarkable Providences". Both John and Hannah died in Windsor, Hannah on February 16, 1686, John late in 1689.

Information for this biography from "The Descendants of John Drake of Windsor, Connecticut" by Frank Gay; Early Connecticut Probate Records; the Early Records of Windsor, Connecticut; "The Great Migration Begins" by Robert Anderson and "History & genealogies of Ancient Windsor" by Stiles.
HANNAH, eldest known child of John Moore, was born say 1628. She married at Windsor 30 Nov 1648, John Drake.
