Shirley Kathryn Crisler, 84, died suddenly in Sisters, June 27, 2009, following her grandson's all-star basketball tournament. A graveside service was held July 3 at Canyon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Crisler was born May 25, 1925 in John Day, to John and Pearl McGillivray. She attended school in John Day, graduating from Grant Union High School in 1943.
She married Robert E. Crisler Jr., Aug. 4, 1947, in Vancouver, Wash. After moving to John Day, they had two children, Bob and Kay.
She was a bookkeeper, owner and operator of a credit bureau, as well as a contract mail carrier. Her bookkeeping employers included Moty and Van Dyke, and Audrey Badley. She also worked for Cal-Pac and for Morgan Freight Lines.
Her main loves in life were her children, grandchildren and animals. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's football, basketball, baseball and soccer games. She also enjoyed yardwork and the outdoors.
Survivors include her son, Bob (Nancy) Crisler of Prairie City; daughter, Kay Bond of Mt. Vernon; grandsons, Gavin and Brandon Crisler, and Michael (Courtney) Gibbs; and special friends, Malcolm and Glenna Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; father, John; stepmother, Margaret McGillivray; mother, Pearl; and stepfather, Gene Mulcare.
