Funeral services for Whitson Emory Shiflett, 42, of 2121 Sibley Road, who died at 3 a. m. Wednesday at a local hospital following an illness of one week, will be held at 3:30 p. m. Thursday at Bayvale Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd C. Greene officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park. A native of Cedartown, Ga., he had lived in Augusta 13 years, was a machinist and a member Bayvale Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army was a Brother Machinist and a member of the International Association of Machinists Union. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Hyman Shiflett; son, Terry Whitson Shiflett, Augusta; a daughter, Miss Kathleen Frances Shiflett, Augusta; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Preston Shiflett, Augusta; five brothers, Dewey Shiflett, Albert Shiflett, Kenneth Shiflett and Wallace Shiflett, all of Rome, Ga., and Charles Shiflett, Atlanta, Ga.; six sisters, Mrs. Albert Hindman, Marietta, Ga., Mrs. Carey Cox, Mrs. Herman Cain and Miss Mamie Lou Shiflett, all of Rome, Mrs. Alex Graves, Tifton, Ga., Mrs. Cecil Guton, Decatur, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be P.A. Creech, Ira Hendrix, Albert Jones, Turner Johnson, John Gay and W.R. Rabun. The body will be at the church from 2:30 p.m. Thursday until the hour of the services.
