Swedish clergyman. He became a Doctor of Theology in 1998. After being ordained as a minister in the Swedish Lutheran Church Svenska kyrkan in 1957, he was secretary of Sällskapet för kyrklig själavård, from 1960 Kyrkfrämjandet, and 1963-1972 Secretary General of that organization. From 1962 he was the boss of the church's bureau of buildings and in 1972 he became Vicar of Björklinge Parish north of Upsala. He was Chairman of the Small Churches Group of Upsala in 1953 and held several other important positions in the central administration of his church under the Archbishop of Sweden in connection with church architecture, till 1984. Till 1986 he was a government expert on church construction, and he was a member of the Royal Musical Academy's organ board 1972-1992, and Chairman of the Bror Hjorth House museum foundation from 2006. He was a driving force in the construction of new churches in Sweden from the 1950s. He wrote several books on the topic leading up to his thesis at the age of 73. His talent as a free hand artist is displayed in many simple and effective portraits in a book on one of Upsala's large graveyards and famous people interred there. He grew up in Borlänge, Sweden, and was also a major organizer of greater family events, having documented his roots and led a large society of relatives since the 1960s. He was married twice and had a total of six children. His first wife and two of his sons predeceased him. His funeral on June 18, 2009, nearly filled huge Upsala Cathedral.
