Services were held at Temple Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Virginia June Council, 39, who died at Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, N.C., Friday, August 14. The Rev. Jim Malone officiated and burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home services.
She was born in Pemiscot County, June 1, 1931, the daughter of Mrs. Mabel Hankins and the late W.O Hankins. She was a graduate of Caruthersville High School, in the class of 1949, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
On November 21, 1952, at Piggott, Ark., she was married to Ralph Council, who survives and who lives in Fort Bragg.
She also leaves a son and daughter, Arthur Dale Council and Miss Gale Council, of the home in Fort Bragg; her mother, Mrs. Mabel Hankins of this city; a brother, Irwin Hankins of St. Louis; three sisters, Mrs. Sophia Gross of St. Louis, Mrs. Rena Clark and Mrs. Bonnie Anderson of Caruthersville, and a half-brother, Harvey Ross of Caruthersville.
