Ivan A. Yeaton Jr.
CONCORD - Ivan A. Yeaton Jr., 86, of Concord, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Rivercrest Nursing Home in Concord after a long illness.
He was the husband of Marjorie (Hawkins) Yeaton, who died in 1993.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Ivan A. Yeaton and Jessie (Bassett) Yeaton.
He was a graduate of Framingham High School, Class of 1938. He graduated from Colby College in 1949, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the Ernest Parsons Prize in business administration. He received an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 1950.
After college, he worked for Bay State Abrasive Products Co. and Dennison Manufacturing Co. He was employed by Raytheon Co. from 1960 onward in various finance roles until his retirement. In addition, he was a lecturer at Northeastern University from 1965-1972.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a major in the quartermaster corps in the Philippines. He was responsible for the distribution of subsistence for approximately 250,000 troops and also supervised allocation of civilian relief supplies to approximately 450,000 civilians daily.
While living in Framingham, he was a Town Meeting representative, 1955-1958, and held various committee positions in Grace Congregational Church. He was a member of the District Board of Review, Boy Scouts of America and served as national director and chapter president of the National Association of Accountants.
During 1967, he and his family moved to Carlisle, where he was a resident until he moved to Rivercrest Nursing Home in Concord during 2002. After he retired, he enjoyed being a substitute teacher at the local primary school.
He leaves his son, Dr. Richard I. Yeaton of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; his daughter, Linda S. Yeaton of London; his granddaughter, Lisa Aloui of Alexandria, Va.; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Valerie R. Kazmer of South Dakota and Dorothy Westbrook of Vancouver, Wash.
He was the brother of the late Gerald S. Yeaton of Hudson, Robert A. Yeaton of Mattapoisett and Bradford Yeaton of California.
