OKOLONA – Virga Cousin Gillespie, 90, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Nov. 26, 1918. She graduated from Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs and taught for more than 40 years in several different school systems. She was a licensed insurance agent for several years for Westbrooks Funeral Home/American Burial Association. She was a member of Zion Springs M.B. Church. She was the widow of O.Q. Gillespie.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11 at Zion Springs M.B. Church with Minister Nollen Elzie Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Westbrooks Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Raymond (Glenda) Gillespie; a brother, Warren G. (Zora) Cousin Sr.; three grandchildren, Chris Gillespie, Nikkie Gillespie and Megan Gillespie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
