Ottis Everett Cobb age 70 of Newton died Wednesday at Merryville General Hospital in Merryville, Louisiana after battling cancer.
His funeral will be at 3pm today at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas with burial at Griggs Cemetery in Stringtown, near Newton.
A native of San Augustine, Texas, he lived in Newton all his life and was a retired contractor with Temple Inland.
He was predeceased by his parents, Otis and Fairy Bennefield Cobb, buried at Whiterock in San Augustine, his first wife and Mother of his children, Thelma Lee Griggs Cobb and his sister Delores Cobb Roy.
He is survived by his wife, Nona Dougharty Kelly, his son Glenn Cobb, his daughter, Deborah K Cobb Barrow, his grandsons, Criston Glenn Cobb, Garrett Barrow and his granddaughter, Brandi Barrow. Everett is also sirvived by Ms. Nona's children, Don Kelley of Dallas, Dale Kelley of Mauriceville, Texas and Tammy Willis of Mauriceville, Texas. Three brothers survive him and they are Milton Cobb of Deer Park, Texas, Alvin Cobb and Gerald Cobb both of Newton, Texas and one sister, Novell Cobb Cheatwood of Borger, Texas.
