Obituary

Herman Reining was born in Germany, September 9, 1848, and died at his home two miles southwest of Lawrence at 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 1909, aged 61 years, two months and twenty four days.

The deceased was first stricken two years ago with a light paralytic trouble and this constantly recurring ailment clung to him until the last, each attack apparently a little more severe than the previous one. Monday of last week he had been up and about the house all day and the final and last stroke accompanied by terrific convulsions developed on Tuesday and he lapsed into an unconscious state from which he rallied only temporarily.

Herman Reining came to America when twenty-two years of age and located at Ferdinand, Indiana from which place he moved when he came to Nebraska in the spring of 1891. He was a highly respected and honored man among his neighbors and his death brought a feeling of keen regret to us all. He was know to be strictly honest and upright in every transaction with his fellowman.

Deceased leaves a family of five daughters and four sons all residing in the vicinity.

The widow he leaves well provided with a good home and a splendid farm of 180 acres.

Funeral services were conducted from the Lawrence Catholic church at 8:30 a.m. Sunday after which the remains were interred in the cemetery east of town.
