Clement Cotter, Sr., M.D. and Mary Lambousy Cotter

Huntsville, Ala.
Clement Partick Cotter Sr., M.D., 81, a longtime resident of Huntsville and a native of Texas, passed away May 19, 2009.

His wife of 54 years, Mary Lambousy Cotter, 82, a longtime resident of Huntsville and native of Jennings, passed away Nov. 27, 2008.

A graveside service for them will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Mr. Cotter recieved his medical doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Medicine in Galveston, Texas. After a distinguished career, he was a retired general and trauma surgeon, family physician and forensic physician, having practiced in the Huntsville area for over 40 years, and was a retired Colonel - USAR after a 26 year military career.

Mrs. Cotter was the daughter of Gregory and Athanasia Lambousy of Jennings. She graduated valedictorian from Jennings High School, where she received the American Legion Award of Honor. She graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (University of Louisiana at Lafayette) where she became a chemistry instructer. She then earned her master's degree in forensic chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She was the original owner of HEMSI Ambulance Service, which was donated to Huntsville Hospital.

Survivors include their children, Dr. Gregory Cotter of Mobile, Ala., Dr. Clement (Colleen) Cotter Jr of Hoover, Ala., Dr. Janet (Larry) Atha of Huntsville and Maria Cotter, J.D. of Huntsville; eight grandchildren, Owen Cotter, Ardice Jane Cotter, Alexander Cotter, Matthew Cotter, Christine Cotter, Kate Thompkins, Mary Ignatiadis and Elaine Atha; and Mrs. Cotter's brothers and sisters and their spouses, George (Sandra) Lambousy, Pete (Katherine) Lambousy, Savilla (John) Mamoulides and Gloria Lambousy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
