W.W. McWilliams, aged 83 years, passed away at the family home on West College Street at 2:30 o'clock Thursday morning. Funeral services were held Thursday at Tidmore cemetery in Van Zandt county at 3:00 o'clock, Rev. D.R. Cartlidge of this city conducting the service.
Mr. McWilliams spent the greater part of his useful life in the Martins Mill community, Van Zandt county, where for many years he was a successful farmer and stockman and counted one of the substantial citizens of East Texas. The evening of his life was passed as a citizen of Athens, having moved here about ten years ago.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Calvin P. McWilliams of Athens, J.C. McWilliams of Dallas and J.H. McWilliams of Tyler; four daughters, Mrs. A.J. Ammons and Mrs. H.L. Burgess of Lubbock, Mrs. J.A. Lancaster of Martins Mill and Mrs. L.H. Lawler of Athens. He is survived also by a brother, M.L. McWilliams of Canton.
