Walter James Moreland, 86, born June 25, 1901 at New Ipswich, New Hampshire, previously of Fitchburg, Mass., died April 2, 1988 at Norman, OK. Employed by American Optical Company for 30 years; trained horses and was a craftsman in cane seating, one of the last practicing this art.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian L. Moreland of the home. A son, Walter J. Moreland and his wife, Natalie of Newalla, OK. A daughter, Mary M. Sledge and her husband, Tom of Choctaw . Seven grandchildren: Marty Dominski, Arm y Ssgt. Donald, and Mark, James and Jay Moreland, Elizabeth King, USMC Lt. Dale Sledge. Seven great grandchildren. Three step-children: Coy of Norman, Benny of Moore and Kenneth Llewelyn of Okla. City. Seven step-grandchildren. Two sisters, Irene Schley of Panacea, Florida and Marjorie M. Fontaine of Fitchburg, Mass.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Annie, in December 1979. Services will be held 10:00AM, Tuesday April 5, 1988 at the Bill Eisenhour NE Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery , Choctaw , OK.
