Mr. David States Worthy, a well-known and substantial citizen of the Brushy Fork church neighborhood, died Saturday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. E. D. Gregory, on Saluda street, after a comparatively brief illness. Mr. Worthy had never fully recovered from an attack of flu, complications ensuing which finally resulted in his death.

Mr. Worthy was forty-eight years of age, and was a lifelong resident of the western section of the county. His funeral was conducted yesterday at Brushy Fork Baptist church by Rev. J. E. Jones, followed by interment in Brushy Fork graveyard. A large concourse of friends were present.

Mr. Worthy is survived by his widow, who was Miss Josie Moore, and the following children: Fred, Mrs. Ben T. Carter, Thomas, Inez, Marguerite, John, and Alice. He also leaves one brother, Mr. Hughes C. Worthy, and four sisters: Mrs. Ed Gregory, Mrs. Lawrence Wise, Mrs. Lula Love, and Miss Maggie Worthy.
