Obituary.

L. F. McGray passed away at his home Saturday morning at 7 o'clock at his home [sic] after a long illness. He was born in Unity, Maine, Aug. 30, 1847 where he grew to manhood, receiving his education at Freedom Academy and Kents Hill Seminary. He then went West as far as Wisconsin and engaged in school teaching for a year. Then in 1868 in company with friends, he started West again and went to California where he engaged in mercantile business for four years. He returned to Maine in 1872. He was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth Doris [this should read Davis per Karen Tomecek] who died 24 years ago. To this union were born four sons and one daughter: Carl of California, Fred who passed on before his father and mother 29 hears ago, Frank of Hartford, Conn., Claude of Hudson, Minn., and Mrs. Stuart of Battle Ground, Wash. In 1875 he came West with his family where he engaged in farming for seven years near Prescot [should read Prescott per Karen Tomecek], Wis. They then moved to Hudson, Minn., where he farmed a number of years. In 1895 he purchased wheat and owned and conducted a hardware store till 1905. In that year he was united in marriage to Miss May Farquhar who survives him. A number of years ago he accepted Christ as his saviour [sic] and from that time on has had peace with God and died rejoicing in the finished work, being 80 years old. The funeral was held at his home Monday afternoon July 16, R. E. Johnston, officiating. Dr. and Mrs. Rich and Mrs. George Lee sang. He was laid to rest beside his wife. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones.
