Born March 10, 1937, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert Wensclaus and Geraldine Catherine Bursick Smetana. She was the wife of Robert E. Hicks Sr., who died in 1992.
She and her family moved to New Windsor from the Catonsville area in 1988. She was a member of St. Luke's (Winter's) Lutheran Church near New Windsor, the National Rose Society, the Women's Bowling Conference, and served as treasurer of the Woodlawn Recreation and Park Council for many years.
She enjoyed league bowling, needlecraft and traveling. She had been a resident of Summerville of Westminster since 2004.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Nancy and William E. Stevens, of Hanover, Pa.; son and daughter-in-law Robert E. and Tiffany Hicks, of New Windsor; grandchildren Gregory H. and David T. Stevens, and Mackenzie L. Hicks; and a sister, Joan Biegeliesen, of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until the time of service, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor. Private inurnment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery near Linwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Maryland Chapter, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702.
