A certain man took his son deer hunting one day. In the afternoon on the way home, they stopped at the Doc A.B. Johnson Store(Bee Creek Road). Doc: What have you fellows being doing today? Lad: My Dad and I have been deering all day! This so amused Doc that sometime later when he was getting the post office, he suggested the name Deering. So Deering was the name given.

I enjoy seeing the pictures, my father had the I have enjoyed chasing our family tree and have visited Ambrose and Wm. Meek's cemeteries. Don't know why Grandpa Henry is buried at the McFarland Cemetery in Corbin instead of one of his family|
