John "Henry" Baker 1856-1922

John Henry Baker went by his middle name Henry. He was the youngest of 3 known children of John Baker and Susannah Smith Baker and was born January 25, 1856 in Bell Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. When Henry was 7 days old, his brother Frederick J. Baker died on February 1 at the age of 2 years and 11 months. And then, just a few days later when Henry was just 17 days old, his mother Susannah, 31, died in Bell Township on February 11. His older sister, Mary Alice was only about 4 years and 10 months old when she lost her mother and brother. Their father John, married Nancy DeHaven sometime before 1859. Henry, 25, married Lettie Breth 26, on October 4, 1881. They were the parents of eight known children. Henry was a farmer. To honor their 40th anniversary in 1921, the Baker family held a reunion at the old home place in Mahaffey, just down the road from the Banner Ridge Church. Henry died about a half a year later at 2 p.m. on March 13, 1922 in Banner Ridge, Bell Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania of prostate cancer at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 19 days. Burial was March 15, 1922 in the Banner Ridge Cemetery.
