Ruth was killed in an interurban accident.
Ruth Bender, 18 years old, was killed at the Fairies park station Monday evening. Standing by the track in front of a big crowd that packed the platform she was pushed into the east interurban, fell beside the track and was dragged into the wheels by her clothing. One of the cars running between Fairies park and the city brought the girl to Decatur. When she was transferred to Moran's ambulance at Leafland ave she was barely alive and was dead when examined at St. Mary's hospital.
With the girl at the time of the accident was her mother, Mrs. D. H.Bender, her sisters, Pearl and Dolly and brothers David and Wilfred.
Ruth and the other members of the family were planning to board the train to go to Sangamon. D. H. Bender, her father, lives on a farm near there. Besides her father and mother and brothers and sisters mentioned, she leaves another brother, Chester. She was a student at Brown's business college.
