Charles was born in Browning, Linn County, Missouri the son of Ezra Campbell and Florence Emma Woodruff. His parents were both born in Virginia, now West Virginia. Five of the fourteen children in this family died young.

Fred W., Nellie Maud (b. 1875), Bessie May (1877), Charles Ray (1879), William Wallace (1882), Eva D. (1884), Earl & Pearl, Byard Ezra (1888), Myrtle Lillian (1891), Oral Jessie, Orrald Claire (1896), Florence Lucille (1899), Joseph Woodruff (1901), infant (aft 1901 bef 1910)

Charles married:

1) Georgia Nell Owsley, 14 Jan 1905, Walla Walla, Washington. Son Dallas Cob (1905).

2) Martha Jane Wells, 2 Feb 1910, Tacoma, Pierce, Washington. Children: Vernon Ray (1910), Martha Nellie Mae (1912), Charles Everett (1915), John Wells (1917), Lucille Edna (1921), Melvin Joe (1923), Mary (abt 1925), Wendell Houston (1926), Violet Evelyn (1930).

3) Sydney Leah Owsley, 4 May 1956, Oxnard, Ventura, California.


Wheat Farmer Dies in Hospital

Charles Ray Campbell, 87, a wheat farmer in this area for 38 years, died Friday morning in a local hospital.

Mr. Campbell was born on July 18, 1879, a son of Ezra and Florence Woodruff Campbell, in Browning, Mo. [Missouri]. The family moved to Nebraska when he was seven years old, to Milton, Wash. [Washington] and Dayton, Wash., where he attended school.

In 1905 he married Georgia Owsley, who died in 1907. He married Martha Jane Wells in Tacoma, Wash. on Feb. 2, 1909 [1910]. They homesteaded near American Falls in 1912.

The family moved to a farm 17 miles east of Idaho Falls in the Martin Flat area in 1928. Mrs. Campbell died in 1984.

He married Sydney [Owsley] Williams of Oxnard, Calif. on May 4, 1956. His wife survives.

Other survivors include the following sons and daughters: Dallas C. Campbell of Portland, Ore., Melvin J. Campbell of Buhl, John W. Campbell, Wendell H. Campbell, Mrs. Nellie Ferguson, Mrs. Stanley (Violet) Purrington, Mrs. Ernest (Lucille) Martin, all of Idaho Falls; 26 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Woodworth, Burley, Mrs. Flo Chapman, Youngston, Ariz., Byard Campbell, Walla Walla, Wash., and Joe Campbell, Escondido, Calif. Two sons and a daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Cecil Johnson and Dr. Lloyd Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Buck Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, Sunday and Monday until 2 p.m.

Funeral services for Charles Ray Campbell, who died Friday, were held Monday in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Cecil Johnson and Rev. Dr. Lloyd Brown officiating.

James Wakeman was soloist and Mrs. James Wakeman, accompanist.

Pallbearers were Charles Ray Campbell, Bill Ferguson, Ronald C. Ferguson, Gary Lower, Michael Campbell, Alan Campbell, and Davis Martin.

Concluding services and interment were at the Rose Hill Cemetery, under direction of Buck Funeral Home.
