He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Bloomington, the son of Edward Lee and Dovie (Krutsinger) Thompson. He was a self-employed carpenter before his retirement and was a member of the Little Union Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He also was a member of the Unionville Senior Citizens and was a WWII Army Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice (Wellons) Thompson of Bloomington; two daughters, Jill Young of Spencer and Jan Young of Bloomington; one sister, Hannah B. Thompson of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Gregory Young of New Orleans, La., Tracy Young of Franklin and Kelli Young of Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Little Union Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ron Hamrick and James Moore officiating. Burial will be at the Unionville Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call at Day Mortuary from 2 to 8 p.m. today.
