Peggy Eileen Darst, 81, of Zanesville, passed away at Cedar Hill Care Center on Saturday, March 21, 2009.
Peggy was born in Steubenville on May 12, 1927, to the late Wesley Truman and Helen Katherine Fox Lewis.
She was a retired waitress and in later years, she was a caregiver.
Peggy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was involved in the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary of Middleport, and was a bingo enthusiast. She supported her children in drill team, baseball, basketball, football, gymnastics, tennis and cheerleading. She roller skated, bowled and enjoyed tap dancing.
Peggy is survived by her children, Dale (Sally) Darst Jr., Robert Vincent Darst, Joseph (Arayanna) Darst, Linda Bailey, Tina (Jeff) Houston, Debra Spinks, Peggy (Andrew) Pallotta, Mary Birdwell, Dee (George) Masek and Misty (Ward) Coffman; brothers, James (Sandra) Lewis and Charles Richard (Carol) Lewis; sisters, Betty Johnson, Janice (Jack) Hastings and June Woods; and 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers, John, William and Steven Andrew Lewis; and sisters, Gladys Spencer and Ina Lewis [and husband Dale Denver "Dusty" Darst].
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Muskingum County Senior Center, Sunrise Drive, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road, Zanesville.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. and calling hours noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3300 Kearns Drive, Zanesville. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
