He came to Illinois with his parents ____ ____ ____ _____ _____ _____ ___ _____ ____ northwest of Naperville until he was married.
He was united in marriage to Carolina Clay of Reading, Pa., on Feb. 22, 1863. To this union eight children were born, two preceding him in death. Those remaining are: Mrs. Agnes Steck and John W. Erb of Naperville; Mrs. Ida Barkdoll of Imperial, Neb.; Mrs. Carrie Raymer and Mrs. Susie Sollenberger of Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Elsie Lehman of West Chicago, Ill. Besides these, one sister, Mrs. Amanda Grove of Walton, Ind., 24 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends survive him.
At the time of his marriage he moved to the farm northwest of Naperville, where his son John now lives and remained there until 22 years ago when he moved to Naperville. His wife passed away Nov. 16, 1887. On July 25, 1889 he was married to Elizabeth Woodruff who survives him.
He was a member of the Brethren church for forty years. He was a kind husband and father.
The pains of death are past,
Labor and sorrows cease;
And life's long warfare closed at last,
His soul id found in peace.
Soldiers of Christ, well done!
Praise be thy new employ!
And while eternal ages run,
Rest in thy Savior's joy.
The funeral is being held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Brethren church. Interment in cemetery 1 1/2 miles northwest of Naperville. Rev. Flory officiating. All the children are here for the funeral.
