Gordon J. Woods, 69, of 28 Jersey Ave., died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. He had been in ill health since October 1983.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas E. Patterson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, six grandchildren; a sister, a brother, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, John, died in 1985.
Born June 26, 1921, in Massena, son of Walter and Mary Perry Woods, he attended Ogdensburg schools, including St. Mary's Academy, and served with the Army in World War II in the Pacific campaign. He was a member of the 464th Amphibian Truck Company and was discharged in 1946.
He married Genevieve Tooley May 29, 1948, in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Melville D. Nesbit Jr., then pastor, officiating.
Mr. Woods first worked at Alcoa in Massena, then for the state Department of Transportation in Ogdensburg for 36 years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring May 31, 1983.
He and his wife had lived at their present address the past 40 years. Mr. Woods enjoyed camping and was a member of the Eskimo Travel Trailer Club. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member and past president of the local Civil Service Employees Association and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2936.
