In 1852 he went to San Francisco to join the California Gold Rush (1849-1859). In 1858 he arrived in Oregon according to his obituary. On the 1860 census he appears in Corvallis, Oregon.
He helped the Union Army build Fort Walla Walla and Fort Boise durning the Civil War.
He married Grace Tibbetts in 1877 at Kalama, WA. They had 11 children.

Gravesite Details
Was first buried in Justice Cemetery on South Cloverdale Rd also known as Cloverdale Cemetery. The cemetery was sold and 12 to 14 grave were removed to Martins Bluff Cemetery. ( this information was received by the Longview Genealogy Society)
