Martha Mary Hooper was the daughter of Simon Hooper and Mary Ann Short. She was born in 1847 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, during the time her father served with the US Army.

Martha married Thomas Hall on 14 May 1869 (license obtained 24 Apr 1869) in Hamburg, Fremont County, Iowa. She was a schoolteacher. Martha gave birth to stillborn twins and died during child birth.

Martha and the twins were buried in the family plot on the Hall farm. Sometime after 1915 they were moved to the Hamburg Cemetery are are buried next to her parents.

Martha died at the age of 21 years.
