Services were held at the Second Baptist Church Monday afternoon for Mrs. Mayme Elizabeth (Mae) Carlton, 73, who died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 25. The Rev. Richard Adams, assisted by Don Johnson, officiated and burial was in Maple cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
Mrs. Carlton was born at Hathaway, Tenn. January 28, 1888, the daughter of Robert and Mary Shull. On March 19, 1905, in Lake County, Tenn., she was married to Dorsey N. Carlton who passed away on September 9, 1953.
She leaves four sons, Robert B. and Marvin Ralph Carlton of this city, Harold of Winter Garden, Fla. and John Vester of Memphis; two daughters, Mrs. Christine Stone, Ridgely, Tenn. and Mrs. Janice Champion, Benton Harbor, Mich.; two brothers, J.G. Shull and G.E. Shull, both of Ridgely; two sisters, Mrs. Will Bargery, Ridgely and Mrs. T.H. Carleton, Memphis; 22 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
