The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Mark Etchell officiating. Private burial will be in Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, Myra Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through Colonial-DeWitt Funeral Home, 19 E. Birch St.
Mr. Holderby was born August 7, 1919, in Mansfield, Washington, to Delbert Clemeral and Emma Katsel Holderby. He attended schools in Spokane and trade school in Seattle for Boeing Co. as an airplane mechanic.
On December 10, 1942, he married Helen Verwolf in Seattle. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, was a grocer, farmer and farm machinery salesman, a carpenter and builder. He also enjoyed carpentry work with son-in-law Bob Vance.
He enjoyed family dinners and documenting family visits with pictures, looking at wildlife and birds around his house, and working in the garden.
The Holderbys moved to Walla Walla in April 1991 from the Yakima area. He was a member of the Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Vance of Walla Walla; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Holderby of Cartersville, Ga.; two sisters, Darlene Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ione Love of Tillamook, Ore.; a brother, Harland Holderby of Palm Desert, Calif.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Art Holderby; and three sisters, Val, Bertha and Cloe.
