In a little village of Llanelly, Carmenthen Conty, South Wales, Elizabeth Bowen David was born 07 Jul 1830 to Morgan David and Elizabeth Bowen David.

With her parents and five sisters; Mary, Ann, Hannah, Emma and Rachel they joined the Mormons and emigrated to America for the sake of their religion in 1849.

While crossing the Atlantic ocean, Elizabeth's mother fell from the upper deck of the ship. They were afraid she would die but her life was spared to them.

They were weeks on the ocean. After reaching America they were halted at St. Louis because of Cholera. Elizabeth's mother and a sister Mary, both were stricken and died of the dreaded disease.

The family lived at St. Louis for three years, it was here Elizabeth met her husband, William Thomas, he being of another Mormon family. They were married in 1850. One son was born to them before they reached Utah, coming by ox team across the plains.

Elizabeth was always very devoted to her religion. Betsy was a nickname she was known by. She had a kind, loving disposition, and was loved by all who knew her. She was a gifted reader and the neighbors would come in the evening to have her read to them.

She was a home woman, delighted to take care of her home and family. She was the mother of eleven children. She lost one little girl, age three years by drowning.

Elizabeth died 07 Apr 1890 of Lagrippe at the age of 59. There were a posterity of 68 grandchildren and 108 great grandchildren living.
