EDWARDSBURG - Kenton Earl Antisdel Sr., 88 years old, of Section St., Edwardsburg, passed to his rest at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday June 9, 2009, while a patient of Elkhart General Hospital. He was born June 2, 1921, in Mishawaka, the son of Dick Nelson and Fay Marie (Buck) Antisdel. He moved to Edwardsburg in 1948 from Chicago, and most recently has been staying with his son, Eric and family, of Elkhart. Ken was married April 14, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX, to Ruby H. "Toni" Hadley, while they were both in the United States Navy, serving during World War II. His wife, Toni, passed away June 21, 2004. After moving to Edwardsburg, Ken finished his high school with a GED at Edwardsburg High School. Ken worked for Bendix Corp. of South Bend, and retired about 1982 as an Inspector for the Missile Division. He was a former Village of Edwardsburg President and Village Trustee. He once was the Fire Chief. He was a member of Edwardsburg American Legion and Edwardsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed auto racing, fishing, gardening in his back yard for his enjoyment and to share with his friends, he and his wife supported the Edwardsburg School sports activities and liked to attend the "games". He was a avid Chicago Cubs Fan, and liked watching the games. Ken's wife, Toni, had been a teacher at Edwardsburg Schools for years before her passing in 2004. Surviving are three sons, Michael (Karen) Antisdel of Constantine, MI, Kenton E. Jr. (Irene) Antisdel of El Paso, TX and Eric Antisdel of Elkhart. There are eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ken has two surviving brothers, Bill Antisdel of Bentonville, IL, and Nelson (Georgia) Antisdel of Osceola. Family who have preceded Ken in death are his wife, his parents, a son, Roger Dale Antisdel on April 23, 1968, and most recently, a daughter-in-law, Virginia Antisdel the wife of son Eric on June 3, 2009; a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Emogene Bachmann and May Marie Tony. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main, Edwardsburg. Friends may visit with the family for one hour before the service on Monday, and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8, all in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Edwardsburg Cemetery, with Military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
