Todd Christopher McMullen (BM3 Petty Officer) was the son of Ila Elder Lane and Marvin McMullen. He had two brothers, Kim Lee and Sherman Walter, a sister, Michele, and a half-brother, Brendon Lee and half-sister Heather Lee. He attended Manheim Central High School. He joined the Navy in 1985, after his junior year. He had served on the USS Iowa since 1986 and was in charge of the captain's shuttle craft. In 1988, He earned a Navy Achievement medal for "outstanding performance" during the ship's tour of the Persian Gulf. He was one of 47 sailors killed when 550 pounds of gunpowder exploded inside the No. 2, 16-inch gun turret on the battleship USS Iowa off Puerto Rico. Funeral services were held at Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim.

Todd tragically lost his life when a gun turrett on the U.S.S. Iowa exploded during naval exercises.
