The funeral for Mary M. Place, 86, of 411 John St., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Foxwood Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Terry R. LaValley officiating.
Mrs. Place died Wednesday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center after being stricken at home.
Calling hours will be 2 to 6 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home.
She was an attendant at Rockland State Hospital until she received a registered nursing degree from Rockland School of Nursing. She then was employed at Moongate Nursing Home, Canton, until her retirement in 1975.
Mrs. Place was a member of a senior citizens bowling league and the Nimble Thimble Quilting Club, and was a past vice president and charter member of the Civil Service Employees Association. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Born Aug. 28, 1921, in Canton, daughter of Lawrence and Esther Holland Elliott, she graduated from Canton High School.
She married Don S. Place on May 22, 1939, in Canton, with the Rev. Clarence M. Devan officiating. In 1941, the couple relocated to Rockland County, and in 1974, they moved back to the north country.
Surviving besides her husband are a son and his wife, two daughters and their husbands, two sisters, two brothers and their wives, 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son, Richard, two daughters, Sondra Sweeney and Sharon O'Neil, and a brother, James, died before her.
