Funeral services for Mrs. Duane Smith was held Wednesday, Oct 13 at 10:30 in the Miller Chapel at Cawker City. She met her untimely death in a car wreck east of Cawker on Highway 24 on Oct 10.
Mary Rosemond Sellers Smith, daughter of Walter Sellers was born July 4, 1932 in the Osborne County vicinity and lived most of her life in Kansas except for a few years she and her family lived in Texas.
On Aug 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Duane P. Smith of Cawker City, in the Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church., Cawker City. Their marriage was blessed with three children.
Mary was a kind and loving cheerful wife and mother, and always lived life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Particularly her close family will long be saddened by her sudden departure. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1936.
Many friends and relatives attended the Rosary on Thursday, Oct 12.
She is survived by her husband, Duane and three children of the home, Leroy, Diane and Duane Jr., Darrell Sellers of Bellevue, Kans.; a sister Zora Allen of Osborne; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Sellers of Boise, Idaho; a half-sister Karen and two step-sisters and step-brother.
The Rev. Henry J. Kieffer was in charge of the funeral services and the pall bearers were LeRoy Hake, Leon Smith, Kenneth Gasper, Phil Smith Jr., Charles Smith and Tracy Thull. Burial was at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Cawker City.
