Connie Lee Nelson
Connie Lee Nelson of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 97.
She was born Sept. 7, 1903, in Citra. She was the daughter of William and Cora (Doyle) Sweeden.
Mrs. Nelson worked for the Red Cross during World War II and was also an antique dealer for many years. She was a Missionary Baptist.
She lived in Memphis, Tenn., for many years and also lived in Arkansas and Hernando, Miss. She then moved to Oklahoma in the late 1960s, returned to Mississippi and then Oklahoma in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include sisters, Norma Argo, Shawnee; Thelma Reed, Holdenville; Hazel Jones, Stillwater; brother and sister-in-law, Willie Arthur and Edith Sweeden, Stillwater; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Stephenson Chapel Cemetery, Memphis, Tenn. Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
