Kodiak was a mixed lab chow and what a dog! We got Kodiak as a puppy from all places, my deceased ex-husband's wife. Kodiak, was black as a moonless night. He stayed on the front porch, only coming in during extremely hot weather -- he preferred it outside. He had the run of the entire front porch. If he got off his lead, he was off like a shot. Shortly after Max went to doggy heaven, Kodiak got loose and disappeared. We were devastated, not two! A dog hunt was under way. Flyers were made and posted all over town (thank goodness for living in a small town). On day 7, I took the car in for an oil change, in talking to the owner, I was telling him about the missing dog (never thought to put a flyer there), he told me about a dog that showed up at his parents house and had been in the bushes for about a week. Headed over there, and there he was...Kodiak ran towards me, with his sweet smile. Never had to worry about him running off after that. Due to a freak accident, we lost Kodiak. But he's in our hearts. Kodiak is buried next to Max.
