US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1811, practiced law as Commonwealth's Attorney of Green County, Kentucky and was a member of the State House of Representatives, 1813 to 1815. In 1823, he was elected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the Eighteenth Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving until 1829. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was appointed judge of the Kentucky Court of Appeals in 1831 and served as a member of the State House of Representatives, 1837 to 1839. US Congressman Aylette Buckner was his son.
