Ruby Johnston Madlin, 69, of 1111 Jay St., died at 3:48 p.m. Sunday at Hepburn Medical Center, where she had been a patient for three weeks. Mrs. Madlin had been in failing health for the past year.
Mrs. Madlin had resided at Parkview Rise since February 1995.
Born May 14, 1927, in Lowell, Mass., daughter of George and Mary Spooner Johnston, she graduated from Lowell High School in 1944 and married Norman Montana in 1945. The marriage ended in divorce.
In 1947, she came to Ogdensburg from Lowell. She worked at Cameron Cleaners before becoming employed by Woods Bag and Canvas Co. She was later a physical therapy aide at United Helpers Nursing Home at its former State Street location and at the present site on Route 68. She retired due to a disability in 1986.
She married Richard Madlin in 1987 in Lisbon. The marriage ended in divorce in December 1994.
Mrs. Madlin was a member of First Congregational Church.
Surviving are three daughters, a brother, eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Three brothers, Bickford, Douglas and Richard Johnston, died before her.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foxwood Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Lyn Lyon, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Foxwood Memorial Park.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Fox Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center.
